Velich Heinz

The estate is located in the municipality of Apetlon in the middle of the nature reserve Lange Lacke in the Burgenland wine-growing region Lake Neusiedl (Austria). It is run by Heinz Velich. The vineyards cover ten hectares of vineyards, which are planted exclusively with white wine varieties. These are Chardonnay, Welschriesling, Muscat Ottonel, Neuburger, Pinot Gris and Bouvier. Great emphasis is placed on high maturity of the grapes and regional character of the wines. About one third of the production is sweet wines, which are mostly aged in oak barrels. The flagship of the house is the "Chardonnay Tiglat", vinified since 1990, undergoing malolactic fermentation and aged in French oak barrels. The name is a dialect term for fat, tegelhaltiges rock. Other premium wines are "Chardonnay Darscho" and the cuvée "TO" (ung for lake) from the varieties Chardonnay, Welschriesling and Sauvignon Blanc. Every year around 50,000 bottles of wine are produced. The winery is a member of the vintners' association Renowned wineries Burgenland,
