Vênus

The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Alden x New York 46000 (Buffalo x New York 34006). Synonyms are Arkansas 1196, Vênus Seedless and Vênus Seedless. Genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera are included. The hybrid was crossed in 1964 by Jim N. Moore at the University of Arkansas. The medium-early ripening, frost-hardy vine has seedless berries with a pronounced foxtone. It is therefore mainly used as table grape and for the production of grape juice. In 2016, 0.3 hectares of vineyards were designated in Brazil (Kym Anderson).
