The white grape variety comes from Spain, Synonyms are Perepinhao Portalegre and Rufete Blanca. The parentage is unknown. It is not a color mutation of the red variety Rufete or the other way around. Despite apparently indicative synonyms or morphological It must not be similar to the varieties Verdejo. Verdejo de Salamanca. Verdelho or Verdello be confused. The almost extinct variety was revived in the early 21st century. It is located in the province of Salamanca ( Castile and Leon ) on the border to Portugal grown. No holdings were reported in 2010 (Kym Anderson ).
