classified area. Viticulture is practiced mainly in the area of the northern lakes around Burlington, it is similar to the other states in New England
, Most of all hybrids
such as Baco Noir, Cayuga, Léon Millot and Seyval Blanc, but also cultivated European varieties such as Chardonnay and Riesling. Typical of the New England states, there are also wineries that specialize in apple and berry wines. The main manufacturing operations are Boyden Valley Winery, Joseph Cerniglia Winery, North River Winery, Putney Mountain Winery, Shelburne Vineyard and Snow Farm Vineyard.
