The white grape variety comes from Crete - Greece, Synonyms are Abidano, Abidiano, Abudiano, Avidiano and Bidiano. According to 2009 DNA analysis it is closely related to the varieties also found on the island Thrapsathiri and vilana, The early to medium-ripening vine is moderately resistant to the wrong people, but is susceptible to real ones mildew, It produces alcohol-rich white wines with fresh acidity and aromas of limes, apricots and tropical fruits. The almost extinct variety was reactivated by some producers through new plantings. No inventory was recorded in 2010 (Kym Anderson ).
