Vienna Classic

Association of winegrowing companies in the winegrowing region and Austrian capital Wien, The members present their best qualities together at presentations and tastings in order to make Viennese wine better known nationally and internationally. The upscale gastronomy, specialist trade and thus demanding customers should be enthusiastic about Viennese quality wines. The admission is subject to a strict tax audit, which is carried out by an independent commission according to precisely defined criteria, especially with regard to vineyards, cellar work and vinification. A specially installed oenological section of the Vienna Classic wineries is constantly informed about the latest scientific knowledge in wine production and brings the group to an even higher level of quality.

The designation Vienna Classic refers to wines in the 0.75 liter boutique with the following quality criteria: best Viennese locations, defined leading varieties (Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Ruländer, Chardonnay and red wines), inspection of the vineyards before the harvest, at least 12% vol Alcohol content, maximum yield of 50 hectoliters per hectare, white wine sales only from April 1, red wine sales only from April 1 of the second year after the harvest. The member companies are Bernreiter Peter. Fuhrgassl-Huber. Robert helmet. Hengl-Haselbrunner. Reinprecht Hugo. Schilling Herbert and Winzerhof Leopold, The initiator and long-time chairman was the Viennese wine boy Ing. Franz Mayer. He was succeeded by Dipl. Ing. Herbert Schilling in 2007.
