Vienna Classic

Former association of winegrowing enterprises in the winegrowing region of the Austrian federal capital and winegrowing region Wien. It was officially dissolved in 2018. The objective and guidelines: The members appear together with their best qualities at presentations and tastings in order to make Viennese wine better known nationally and internationally. The upscale gastronomy, specialised trade and thus discerning customers are to be inspired for Viennese quality wines. Admission is subject to a strict audit carried out by an independent commission according to precisely defined criteria, especially with regard to vineyards, cellar work and vinification. A specially installed oenological expert group of the Vienna Classic wineries constantly keeps abreast of the latest scientific findings in wine production and brings the group to an even higher level of quality.

April; red wine sales only from 1 April of the second year after harvest. Franz Mayer, the Viennese wine doyen, was the initiator and long-standing chairman. His successor from 2007 was Dipl. Ing. Herbert Schilling.
