Vienna Classic

Association of wine-growing businesses in the winegrowing region and Austrian capital Wien, The members perform with their best qualities together in presentations and tastings in order to make the Viennese wine nationally and internationally known. The upscale gastronomy, specialized trade and thus demanding customers are to be inspired for Viennese quality wines. The survey is subject to a rigorous tax audit, carried out by an independent commission according to well-defined criteria, in particular in relation to vineyards, cellars and vinification. A specially installed oenological section of the Vienna Classic wineries keeps itself informed about the latest scientific findings in wine production and brings the group to an even higher level of quality.

The term Vienna Classic refers to wines in the 0.75-liter Bouteille with the following quality criteria: best Viennese locations, defined Leitsorten (Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Ruländer, Chardonnay and red wines), control of the vineyards before the harvest, at least 12% vol Alcohol content, yield limit maximum 50 hectoliters per hectare, white wine sales only from 1 April, red wine sales only from 1 April of the second year after harvest. The member companies are Bernreiter Peter. Fuhrgassl-Huber. Helmet Robert. Hengl-Haselbrunner. Reinprecht Hugo. Schilling Herbert and Winzerhof Leopold, The initiator and longtime chairman was the Viennese wine diner Ing. Franz Mayer. His successor began in 2007 Dipl. Ing. Herbert Schilling.
