Vignobles de France

This French wine quality designation became valid from the 2007 vintage onwards. The huge area covered all the wine-producing départements. Grape varieties from the most diverse regions were allowed to be blended with each other. The aim of this regulation was to be able to stand up to foreign competition from branded wines and varietals, especially from the USA and Australia. New wine designations were introduced as a result of the EU wine market regulation which came into force in 2007. In line with this, Vin de France now corresponds to this type of wine, which is why Vignobles de France were eliminated again. See also under quality system.
