The winery is located in the South African wine-growing district Paarl
on the border to Stellenbosch
, It was bought in 1983 by cousins Jeff and Simon Grier, who have doubled their size until today. The vineyards cover 300 hectares of vineyards. They are with the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc (Steen), Gewürztraminer, Merlot, Pinotage
, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz planted. The flagships are the Bordeaux blend "Cru Monro" and the "Villiera Merlot Reserve". It also produces sparkling wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Every year about 1.2 million bottles of wine are produced.
