In general, in English this means grape harvest or vintage. Especially for dessert and sparkling wines(sparkling wine, champagne) it is common to name a vintage wine (i.e. not a blend from different years) in this way. In France a vintage champagne is called Millésime. Other products are also usually blended from different vintages (or sites or qualities). In addition, so-called vintages are also produced (often only in the best years) and are explicitly named so on the label. This is common, for example, for the wine types port, sherry and vin doux naturel, as well as for the brandies armagnac and cognac. Vintage Wine means "exquisite" or "outstanding" wine quality.
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
