Viorika

The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Seibel 13-666 (Plantet x Seibel 6468) x Aleatico. Synonyms are Viorica and Wiorika. It contains genes of Vitis aestivalis, Vitis berlandieri, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1969 in Moldova by N. I. Guzun. By the way, the two new breeds Bessarabsky Muskatny and Muscat de Yaloven were created with the same parents. The variety is grown in Moldova (251 ha) and Russia (307 ha). In 2016, a total of 558 hectares of vineyard area were designated (statistics Kym Anderson).
