Vitis monticola

One of the approximately 30 American species or Wild vines with full botanical name Vitis monticola Buckl. A description was first published by US biologist Buckley in 1862, which is also included in the name. Botanical synonyms or old names are Vitis aestivalis var. Monticola, Vitis champanii, Vitis foexana, Vitis montana and Vitis texana. A common synonym is Sweet Mountain Grape . Together with the species Vitis palmata and Vitis vulpina the Cordifoliae group is formed. The vine comes in in the southwestern United States New Mexico and Texas in front. It prefers sandy or loam soils and is highly resistant to drought, It has no meaning as a wine grape, but is used for crossings due to its properties.
