The red grape variety originates from Greece. Synonyms are Blachiko, Blachos, Vlahico, Vlachico de Jannina, Vlachos, Vlachs, Vlacos, Vlachico, Vlahico and Vlahos. The parentage (parentage) is unknown. The late-maturing, high-yielding vine produces dark-coloured red wines with soft tannins and aromas of cassis and pepper. It is cultivated in the regions of Epirus and Thessaly, where it is mostly blended with other varieties such as Bekari, Debina and Agiorgitiko. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
