The winery is located in the municipality of Niederhorbach (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of
Pfalz. It was founded in 1832 and is now run by Eckhard and Christine Walter, the fifth generation of the Walter family. The businesses "WeinHotel" and "WeinRestaurant" as well as holiday flats are attached. The vineyards cover 65 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyard Silberberg (Niederhorbach). The white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Cabernet Blanc and Muscat, as well as the red wine varieties Dornfelder, Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc are cultivated. For quality reasons, the vines are trained in the flat arch system. All vineyards are cultivated according to current, environmentally friendly methods. Intensive work is done in summer and winter with
cover crop.
Depending on the type of wine, fermentation or ageing takes place in stainless steel tanks,
tonneaux (white wine fermentation, red wine ageing) and barriques (red wine ageing). The premium wines include the white wines Gelber Muskateller and Sauvignon Blanc 500, as well as the red wine cuvée "CMC". As a homage to the "Pälzer Sprooch" (dialect), there is a cuvée with double-ää every year. Currently, these are "Bettsäächer" (dandelion) and in the markets the "Cuvée fer Dehäämrum" (cuvée for home). In years with suitable weather conditions,
ice wine is also produced. The extensive range also includes bottle-fermented vintner' s sparkling wines,
secco (sparkling wines),
bag-in-box wines, wine aperitifs, many fine spirits (wine, marc, grape, herbs, fruit, fruit),
vinegar, grape juice and
wine jelly.
