The winery is located in the municipality of Iphofen ( Steigerwald area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. A guesthouse is attached. The winery is managed by Werner Weigand; son Andi is responsible for the cellar technology. The vineyards cover 9.5 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Julius-Echter-Berg, Kalb and Kronsberg (Iphofen), as well as Küchenmeister and Schwanleite (Rödelsee). They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Bacchus and Scheurebe as well as Pinot Noir. Around half of the stock are very old vines, which continue to be tended in accordance with the philosophy of the house.
Organic viticulture is practised according to the rules of the Naturland association. Only fully ripe and healthy grapes are processed through selective manual harvesting in several passes. In the cellar, a non-invasive principle applies with as few interventions as possible and, with the exception of minimal sulphurisation, complete renunciation of additives. The musts are in principle fermented spontaneously. The white wines are aged for a long time on the fine lees. The wines are produced in the three lines Der Held, Der Franke and Der Wilde. Depending on the type of wine, they are matured in stainless steel tanks, in conventional large wooden bar rels or in barriques.
