Weilberg

single vineyard in the municipality of Ungstein (Bad Dürkheim, Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. The first vines were planted here by the Romans around the turn of the century, 2,000 years ago. The vineyards, which face south to southeast at an altitude of 120 to 180 metres above sea level with a slope of 5 to 25%, cover 45 hectares of vineyards. The soils, which vary somewhat due to their size, consist mostly of red, clayey loam (red earth), with limestone content and a high proportion of fine earth. A particularly favoured heart of about one hectare is called "Roterde". In the Weilberg, mainly the Riesling variety is cultivated. The Bärenhof, Isegrim, Pfeffingen, Rings, Schaefer Karl, Weingut am Nil, Wolf Michael and Zeter Oliver wineries, for example, have a share in the site.
