The wine guide was founded in 1992 by the Swiss wine critic René Gabriel (* 1957) and the gastronomy and wine journalist Wolfram Meister as an "independent newsletter for everyone who wants to know more about wine". In July 2008 the magazine was 100% owned by the German media company Konradin Selection GmbH in Mainz accepted. The new owner is a 100% subsidiary of the Konradin media group (picture of science, industrial indicator, computer newspaper, nature & cosmos). Among other things, "Selection", a wine customer magazine for specialist retailers and restaurants, is already being published. René Gabriel remains as an author and expert.
