Weiss Manfred

The estate is located in the municipality of Apetlon in the Burgenland wine-growing region Lake Neusiedl (Austria). It is managed by Manfred Weiss. The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vineyards in the vineyards of Darscho, Rohrung, Schandelsgrund, Siebenmath (“Simod”) and Tiglas. They are 80% planted with the white varieties Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Chardonnay, Bouvier, Sauvignon Blanc and Neuburger, and 20% with the red varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Cabernet Sauvignon. A high level of ripeness of the grapes is promoted by the numerous small and sun-reflecting varnishes (waters) around the vineyards. The wines are aged according to type and region. The winery specializes in the production of sweet high-quality wines such as Auslese, Beerenauslese, Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein, which account for around 75% of the production. The varieties Bouvier, Chardonnay and Neuburger are mainly used for the selection, and Grüner Veltliner for the ice wines. The red wine cuvée “Simod”, made in barrels, is blended from Cabernet Sauvignon and Zweigelt. Around 25,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
