The traditional "Wein.Gut Wellanschitz" is located in the municipality of Neckenmarkt in the Austrian DAC area of Mittelburgenland. Stefan and Theresia Wellanschitz laid the foundation for the quality standard. From 1996 onwards, in what is already the sixth generation of the family, the two sons Stefan and Georg built on this, supported by Stefan's wife Christine. The vineyards cover almost 28 hectares in the Altes Weingebirge, Bodigraben, Gfanger, Hochberg, Hussi, Spiegelberg, Raga, Rüsselsgrund and Sonnensteig vineyards on mostly heavy clay soils. They are planted exclusively with red wine varieties, namely Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The vineyards are consistently cultivated in a near-natural, environmentally friendly manner with the exclusive use of organic fertilisers, cover crop, and plant-friendly pest control using predatory mites.

With around 80% of the vineyard area, Blaufränkisch is the dominant leading variety and speciality of the winery, which is vinified in many variants. Vinification is carried out according to the principle of intervening as little as possible in the cellar. The flagship of the house is "Well" (stands for "good" or "source"), an ambiguous play on the family name. The red wine is a selection from the best Blaufränkisch vines, which are extremely thinned out in late summer. It matures for 24 months in barriques. Other premium wines are the cuvées "Fraternitas - Bruderschaft" (Blaufränkisch, CS) and "SAM" (Syrah, Zweigelt, Merlot), Blaufränkisch Altes Weingebirge, and Mittelburgenland DAC Hochberg (Blaufränkisch). Around 120,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Noble brandies are also produced.
