English name (white root) for the vine disease white rot; see there.

A disease (also known as spot necrosis or corrosion rot) of wood caused by the fungal species Coniella diplodiella (also Coniothyrium diplodiella) at high humidity and higher temperatures (below 15 °C the fungus is inactive) mainly in the hot summer months of July and August. During this time, the lignin responsible for the structure of the wood is decomposed and stability is impaired.
