Wieninger

The estate is located in Stammersdorf (Floridsdorf), in the north of the Austrian capital Wien, The approximately 100 year old traditional winery was pure until the 1980s wine tavern led until Ing. Fritz Wieninger jun. took over the management of wine production. In 2005 a new production building in historic walls was put into operation. The vineyards cover 40 hectares; the acreage is on the slopes of the Bisamberg in south and south-east locations in the vineyards of Breiten, Gabrissen, Herrenholz, Jungsberg, Rothen and Wiesthalen mainly on sandy, loamy and lime-rich loess.

On the Nußberg on the other side of the Danube 15 hectares of vineyards are leased. Two thirds are white wine varieties Green Valtellina, Pinot Blanc ( Pinot Blanc ), Pinot Gris ( Pinot gris ) Chardonnay. Sauvignon Blanc. Riesling, Yellow muscatel and Traminer, as well as the red wine varieties Zweigelt. Pinot Noir. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot cultured. In 2014 the Wiener Weingut became Hajszan Neumann taken over with 20 hectares of vineyards; the brand name will be retained.

Has been certified since 2006 Biodynamic viticulture according to the rules of the association respectful-BIODYN practiced. On pesticides (such as herbicides ), systemic spray and fertilizers is completely dispensed with. Infusions and bio-dynamic preparations are used instead. Flora and fauna are characterized by a sophisticated greening who supports vineyards. The focus is not on the high one earnings but health, self-healing as well as the quality of the vines and the wine.

The white wine grapes are made according to the grape quality or the desired wine type destalked (rubbed) and gently pressed. Then the must is put into temperature-controlled steel tanks, wooden barrels of various sizes and partly in barriques for fermentation. The classic red wines are fermented on the mash either in closed tanks or, as in the case of Pinot Noir, in open oak vats. You basically go through that malolactic fermentation and are then exclusively in barriques expanded. The top line is called "Grand Select", the principle without filtration is filled. The flagship of the house is the "Pinot Grand Select" made in Burgundian style from areas with a low yield.

Other premium wines are the "Chardonnay Grand Select", "Grüner Veltliner Kaasgraben", the red wine cuvée "Wiener Trilogie" (Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot) and the one specially cultivated by the winery Wiener mixed set DAC, which is vinified in the categories "classic" and with the location names "Bisamberg", "Nußberg" and "Rosengartl". Around 350,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
