WIETA

The "Wine and Agricultural Ethical Trade Association" was founded in South Africa in 2002. The non-profit organisation there is specifically concerned with social and employment improvements in the wine industry. Its members are winegrowers, producers, trade unions and traders. There is a code of conduct that prohibits, for example, forced and child labour. Key points are the right to collective bargaining, regulated working hours, protection against dismissal and protection against discrimination. The member companies are regularly inspected and accredited if the results are positive. See also a list under viticulture institutions.
