Willems Willems

The estate is located in the municipality of Konz-Oberemmel (Saar area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle, It was taken over by Maria Willems in 1971. The double name results from the fact that her husband Kal had the same name thanks to a common ancestor. The business has been run by daughter Carolin Hofmann since 2001, who had experience in Australia and South Africa. Your husband Jürgen Hofmann is the second family company to run a winery in the municipality of Appenheim in Rheinhessen, The vineyards cover four hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Altenberg, Karlsberg and Rosenberg (Oberemmel), as well as Herrenberg (Niedermennig). Because of the prevailing here soil types the catchphrase “slate meets shell limestone” was created. The white varieties Riesling (70% of the total area), Müller-Thurgau and Pinot Blanc, as well as the red varieties Pinot Noir and Dornfelder are cultivated. After the mash fermentation, some of the red wines are aged in barriques, the white wines in steel tanks. The premium wines include the Rieslings "Unter der Kapelle" and "Edmond" from vines over 70 years old from the filet of the Altenberg vineyard. The Riesling "Fusion II" is a joint project made from grapes from the Saar and Rheinhessen. The winery is a member of the associations Mosel-Jünger, Simply Wine and Generation Riesling.
