wine Brotherhood

confrérie vineuse (F)
confraternità del vino (I)
wineguild, society (GB)

Wine brotherhoods are mostly charitable associations or communities whose members share the common love of wine. For example, the guiding principles of the "Austrian Wine Brotherhood" are very aptly described and certainly valid for most of them: an association of men who stand for the genuineness and integrity of wine, respecting it as a "knightly" drink and the to devote to cultivating wine culture and spreading knowledge about wine, its history and cultural and historical importance. There are, of course, wine sisterhoods or associations with representatives of both sexes. There are many such associations in each country that also pursue marketing and commercial goals. One of the most famous and oldest wine brotherhoods in the world is the Burgundian one Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, See also below Confrérie vineuse,
