The comprehensive work about grapes or grape varieties was published in 2012 by Penguin Books Ltd (London). The subtitle is "A complete guide to 1,368 vine varieties, including their origins and flavors". The 1,242-page book contains many reproductions of grapevine color plates from the famous work "Ampélographie" by the French ampelographer Victor Vermorel (1848-1927) and Pierre Viala (1859-1936). The authors are Jancis Robinson, Julia Harding and José Vouillamoz, Wine Grapes contains all commercial varieties (missing those for which no wine producers were found).
Wine Grapes was in the glossary extensively used as a source, with intensive coordination with José Vouillamoz took place. In addition, the glossary does not contain cultured or extinct varieties of historical significance. In addition, in the glossary were also from 2013 extensive DNA analysis the grape geneticist Jean-Michel Boursiquot, Javier Ibáñez, Thierry Lacombe and others who provided information on the parentage of many hundreds of grape varieties. Of course, these could not be taken into account in the work "Wine Grapes" already published in 2012.
