Wine route

strada del vino (I)
route du vin (F)
ruta del vino (ES)
wine trail (GB)

For marketing reasons, wine routes have been established in all major wine-growing countries to guide wine lovers and tourists through a wine-growing region by means of appropriate information boards or signposting and to encourage them to enjoy or buy wine. Among the best known and oldest in Germany are the "German Wine Route" in the Palatinate as the first of its kind, the "Moselle Wine Route" on the Moselle, the "Baden Wine Route" in Baden and the "Rheingau Riesling Route" in the Rheingau, as well as in Austria the "Seewinkel Wine Route" in the Neusiedlersee wine-growing region, the "South Styrian Wine Route" in southern St yria and that in the wine-growing region Thermenregion. Day trips along wine routes are also part of the wine tourism that has become popular. On the subject, see also Great Wine Capitals Global Network and World's Best Vineyards.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
