Wine saints

Different people are venerated as patrons of winegrowers (winegrowers, wine merchants, coopers and other winegrowing professions), depending on the country, winegrowing region or even place. They are saints or beatified persons, most of whom died as martyrs (they should not be confused with the wine gods ). Their commemorative days are often directly related to viticulture in connection with the weather and vegetation cycle, which is often depicted in rhyming form in the farmers' rules. The numerous wine saints with their commemorative days are:

Weinheilige - Petrus & Paulus, Martin von Tours, Sebastian, Pankratius, Urban von Langres
