The estate is located in the commune of Retzstadt (Maindreieck area) in the German wine-growing region Franconia
, Own wines have been developed since 2004, although the family has had its own vineyards for over three generations. By linking the family production plants to the “Koch family of vintners”, Andreas Koch has managed to put together a manageable range of wines. The vineyards in the Retztal and adjacent Maintal comprise five hectares of vineyards in individual layers Benediktusberg
(Retzbach), Langenberg (Retzstadt) and stone
(Stetten). They are mainly planted with the white varieties Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Rieslaner, Kernling and Pinot Gris, as well as with the red varieties Pinot Noir, Black Riesling and Domina. Management is carried out in a conventional, environmentally friendly manner according to the company's philosophy "in harmony with nature".
As a certified Slow food producer
During the vinification, the company pays particular attention to the varieties and parcels typical. Some of the wines are fermented chilled or expanded with sur le storage. The red wines, on the other hand, mature partly in barriques or in large wooden barrels. The wines are produced in the three lines "New Franconia", "Classic Franconia" and "Exotic Franconia", with a focus on fine-fruity wines. Premium wines include QUERICUS Benediktusberg Spätburgunder Spätlese dry, Langenberg Rieslaner Spätlese dry and Langenberg BAROCK Silvaner Spätlese dry. Around 12,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The company also offers services related to wine and nature. Senior head Monika Koch is a trained tour guide for the Franconian Wine Experience and organizes guided vineyard hikes with a tasting "Experience wine where it grows". Andreas Koch is part of the Generation Riesling young wine association.
