The "Kellerei Cantina Tramin" winegrowers' cooperative is located in the municipality of Tramin on the Wine Route about five kilometres south of Lake Caldaro in the Italian wine-growing region of South Tyrol (Trentino-South Tyrol region). It was founded in 1898 on the initiative of the parish priest and member of the Austrian parliament Christian Schrott. The responsible persons are Leo Tiefenthaler (chairman), Stephan Dezini (managing director), Wolfgang Klotz (sales manager) and Willi Stürz (oenologist and cellar master). The vineyards of the approximately 300 winery members cover a total of 260 hectares of vineyards in the four communities of Tramin, Auer, Montan and Neumarkt. The most important sites include Söll, Mazon, Glen, Pinzon and Rungg.
The white wine varieties Chardonnay, Müller-Thurgau, Goldmuskateller, Sauvignon Blanc, Weißburgunder(Pinot Blanc), Grauburgunder(Pinot Gris) and Gewürztraminer, as well as the red wine varieties Blauburgunder(Pinot Noir), Vernatsch(Schiava Grossa), Lagrein, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are cultivated and processed. The vineyards are cultivated according to the strict viticultural guidelines of the cooperative with corresponding guidelines for the members. These include the use of natural, environmentally friendly cultivation methods under the premise of a balance between production and vegetation. The wide range of products includes various wines from the DOC areas of Kalterersee and South Tyrol. Around 1.9 million bottles of wine are produced annually.
