single vineyard in the municipality of Winningen (Cochem Castle area) in the German Moselle wine-growing region. The name supposedly goes back to owls that used to nest here. The south to west facing vineyards at 75 to 210 metres above sea level with 50 to 70% slopes cover 15 hectares of vineyards. The cultivation of the extreme steep sl opes is only possible by means of monorack rail ways (single-rail rack railways).
