The estate is located in the municipality Retzstadt (area Maindreieck) in the German wine-growing region Franconia
, Since 2004, the expansion of their own wines, but for more than three generations in the family own vineyards are available. By linking the family production companies to the "Winzerfamilie Koch", Andreas Koch has succeeded in putting together a manageable wine assortment of his own. The vineyards in Retztal and adjacent Maintal cover five hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Benediktusberg
(Retzbach), Langenberg (Retzstadt) and stone
(Stetten). They are mainly planted with the white varieties Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Rieslaner, Kernling and Pinot Gris, as well as with the red varieties Pinot Noir, Black Riesling and Domina. The management takes place in a conventional, environmentally friendly way according to the philosophy of the house "in harmony with nature".
As a certified Slow food producer
the vinification plant pays special attention to variety and parcel typicity. The wines are partly fermented refrigerated or expanded with Hefesatzlagerung (sur lie). The red wines, however, partly mature in oak barrels or in large oak barrels. The wines are produced in the three lines "New Franconia", "Classic Franconia" and "Exotic Franconia", with a focus on fine fruity wines. The premium wines include QUERICUS Benediktusberg Spätburgunder Spätlese trocken, Langenberg Rieslaner Spätlese trocken and Langenberg BAROCK Silvaner Spätlese trocken. Every year around 12,000 bottles of wine are produced. The company also offers services related to wine and nature. Head chef Monika Koch is a trained tour guide Weinerlebnis Franken and organizes guided vineyard hikes with tasting "Experience wine where it grows". Andreas Koch is with the Jungwinzervereinigung Generation Riesling.
