Wisselbrunnen

single vineyard in the municipality of Hattenheim in the German wine-growing region of Rheingau. There are various interpretations of the origin of the name. According to one variant, it is derived from "weasel" or "meadow". According to a second variant, however, it is a corruption of the Latin "fistula", which means tube and refers to the well located there. The south to south-west facing vineyards at 100 to 120 metres above sea level with an 8% slope cover 18 hectares of vineyards. The medium-heavy tertiary marl soils with calcareous loess loam have an excellent water storage capacity. The Riesling variety is mainly cultivated here. The wineries Barth Norbert, Eser August, Freiherr Langwerth von Simmern, Georg Müller Stiftung, Kaufmann Urban, Rüdesheimer Sektkellerei Ohlig, Schloss Reinhartshausen, Schloss Schönborn and Spreitzer Andreas & Bernd, for example, have shares in the site.
