The "Weingut Wöhrle" is located in the town of Lahr (Breisgau area) in the German wine-growing region of Baden. In 1979, Hans and Monika Wöhrle leased the "Weingut der Stadt Lahr" and integrated it into their own winegrowing business. The business operated under the name "Weingut Stadt Lahr, Inh. Familie Wöhrle". In 1997, the family acquired the winery and leased the municipal vineyards on a long-term basis. In 2002, Markus Wöhrle joined the winery after intensive years of training at the Müller-Catoir winery (Palatinate) and at the organic pioneer W. Brugger (Baden). A renovation of the main building was carried out in 2003, and an extension in 2013. The winery is run by Markus and Tanja Wöhrle; since the 2013 vintage under the name "Weingut Wöhrle".

The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Herrentisch, Kirchgasse (in sole ownership) and Kronenbühl (Lahr) as well as Gottesacker (Hügelheim). 30% of the vineyards are planted with the red wine varieties Blauer Spätburgunder and Regent, and 70% with the white wine varieties Riesling, Chardonnay, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Auxerrois, Müller Thurgau, Muskateller, Rieslaner Bronner and Johanniter. Burgundy varieties account for 80%. The impulse for organic viticulture came in the 1980s, and organic certification in 1991. The vineyards are cultivated without the use of synthetic chemical pesticides, weedkillers and fertilisers.

The wines are produced according to the four-stage VDP classification model. The wines from the Gottesacker, Herrentisch and Kirchgasse sites are marketed as Grosse Gew ächse. The white estate wines and local wines are vinified exclusively in stainless steel, while the first growths are vinified proportionately in stainless steel and large wooden barrels, depending on the vintage. The long-lived, white Grosse Gewächse wines are fermented spontaneously with a maceration period. The red wines go through the classic mash fermentation. The Pinot Noir estate wines are matured in large wooden barrels made of local oak, the local wines in used barrique, the wines from the first and grand sites in predominantly new barrique made of Burgundian oak. The winery has been a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates) since 2004.
