Wöhrwag

The winery in the municipality of Stuttgart-Untertürkheim is located in the German wine-growing region Wuerttemberg, It is in the sixth family generation of viticulture. The father of the current owner left the winegrowers' cooperative in 1960 and started bottling himself. Hans-Peter Wöhrwag took over the winery in 1990 after having previously been in Geisenheim studied and gained experience in Napa Valley, California. The vineyards cover 20 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers of Altenberg, Herzogenberg (sole proprietorship) and Mönchberg, They are planted with the white varieties Riesling (40%), Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Müller-Thurgau, Sauvignon Blanc and Muskateller, as well as with the red varieties Trollinger, Lemberger, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Dornfelder. The house’s premium wines include above all the Rieslings, the red wine cuvées Philipp (80% Lemberger, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon) and Cuvée X (50% Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon each), as well as fine sweet specialties. The winery is a member of VDP (Association of German quality wine estates).
