Xeisuthros

This deity (also Keisuthros, Leisuthros, Seisuthros) was worshipped by the Chaldeans as a beneficent wine god. The Chaldeans were a Semitic people in southern Mesopotamia in the 1st millennium BC who are often mentioned in the Old Testament of the Bible. Apparently the Babylonians were also called Chaldeans, for King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon is named as such in the Book of Ezra. See also under wine gods and wine saints.
