The red grape variety originates from Greece. Synonyms are Xeromachairouda Aspri, Xeromacherouda Aspri, Xylomachairouda and Xylomacherouda. It should not be confused with the variety Asswad Karech (with synonym Xeromacherouda). The parentage is unknown. The vine is cultivated in the Cyclades and used there as wine grape and table grape. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
