Abbreviation for the association founded in 1991 "Zinfandel Advocates & Producers". It consists of almost 6,000 advocates and more than 310 producers both in the US and internationally in many countries. The aim is the unique position of the grape variety Zinfandel in the American wine history and wine culture to appreciate and promote. ZAP organizes seminars, educational programs, conferences such as the annual "Zinposium" and wine tastings. Furthermore, various projects such as the development of a special aroma wheel and the so-called Heritage Vineyard. This acre-sized vineyard at the Oakville, Davis, Oakville Napa Valley Research Station cultivates very old and rare California Zinfandel clones for the purpose of researching the origin and history of the vine. Every year in January, a big Zinfandel festival is held in San Francisco for ZAP members.
