The winery is located in the municipality of Hohenwarth in the south-west of the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel. Grandfather Johann Wagner was one of the first vintners in Austria to bottle in 1920. The long tradition is evidenced by a vintage of 1927. The estate is managed by Ing. Alois Zeilinger. The vineyards cover ten hectares on primary rock and fertile alluvial loess in the Hintaus, Hochstraß, Krumpenthal, Laa, Lehen, Mühlweg and Steinbruch vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Frühroter Veltliner, Rivaner (Müller-Thurgau), Chardonnay, Riesling and Muskat-Ottonel, as well as the red wine varieties Blauburger, Blauburgunder (Pinot Noir) and Rotburger.

The vineyards are cultivated in an environmentally conscious manner with yields reduced to 40 hl/ha, which are harvested in several rounds with selective manual harvest ing. The white wines are whole cluster pressed with cool and slow fermentation. The red wines are fermented with traditional mash fermentation and then remain on the mash for a longer period of time. The wines of the "Classic" series are bottled in 0.375 litre, 0.75 litre and 1.5 litre (magnum) bottles. Premium wines are Grüner Veltliner Lehen, Grüner Veltliner Winberg Weinviertel DAC, Grüner Veltliner von der Hefe, Frühroter Veltliner Hintaus, Chardonnay Hohenwarther Freiheit, and the red wines Pinot Noir Steinbruch and Blauburger Steinbruch. In years with suitable weather conditions, Trockenbeerenauslese wines are also produced. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
