The winery is located in the municipality of Mailberg in the wine-growing region of Weinviertel in Lower Austria. The traditional family has been located here since 1670. Today's owner Josef Zens is one of the founding members of the Mailberg Valley Quality Association and acted for many years as chairman of the association and also of the local winegrowers' association. The vineyards cover seven hectares of vineyards in, for example, the Altenpoint, Atlasberg and Hundschupfen vineyards. They are exclusively planted with white wine varieties, i.e. Grüner Veltliner (50%), Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Gelber Muskateller and Gewürztraminer. The vineyards are cultivated according to ecological principles. The quality criteria are rigorous quantity restriction with a yield of around 50 hectolitres/hectare through short pruning, appropriate foliage work and thinning out. The wines, fermented in stainless steel, are vinified classically dry and aged in steel tanks and sometimes in large wooden barrels, depending on the variety. The goal is the independence of vintage and vineyard. The premium wines include Grüner Veltliner Ried Altenpoint, Rheinriesling Ried Hundschupfen and Gewürztraminer Ried Atlasberg.
