The white grape variety is a new breed between Bouvier x Furmint, Until 1999, Oremus was named after its famous eponymous location in the Tokaj-Hegyalja winegrowing region. The crossing took place in 1951 in Hungary by the breeder Ferenc Király. The early to mid-seasoning vine is prone to Botrytis and moderately sensitive to wintry frost, The berries have a balance between sugar and acidity.
