Zéta

The white grape variety is a new breed between Bouvier x Furmint. Until 1999 it was called Oremus after the vineyard of the same name in the Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region. It was crossed in Hungary in 1951 by the breeder Ferenc Király. The early to medium ripening vine is susceptible to botrytis and moderately sensitive to winter frost. The berries have a good balance between sugar and acidity. The variety is excellent for noble sweet wines and has been approved for Tokaj since 1990. In 2016, 118 hectares of vineyards were designated in Hungary (Kym Anderson).
