The winery is located in the municipality Maikammer (area Southern Wine Route) in the German wine-growing region palatinate
, The traditional Ziegler family has been growing wine in Maikammer for almost 300 years. The present winery, whose estate house is under monument protection, was founded by August Ziegler in 1894. Today, it is managed by its great grandchildren Harald (sales) and Uwe Ziegler (winemaking) in the eighth generation of the family. A new sales and presentation room was put into operation in 2002. The vineyards cover 20 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Biengarten
(Gimmeldingen), Kapellenberg (Alsterweiler), Römerweg (Kirrweiler), Eselshaut
(Mustache), as well Heiligenberg
and church piece (maikammer). They are the white varieties Riesling (4 ha), Pinot Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Scheurebe, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris, Rieslaner, Silvaner, Chardonnay, Kerner and Sauvignon Blanc, and the red varieties Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, St. Laurent, Cabernet Cubin, Cabernet Franc , Merlot and Syrah planted.
