The winery is located in the wine town Krems
in the Lower Austrian wine region Kremstal
, The roots go back to the Babenberger period, when around 1300 Albrecht I (1255-1308) lent twenty of his most loyal followers with arable land, riparian forests, orchards and vineyards in and around Weinzierl (today a district of Krems). The vineyards were subsequently cultivated by these "tenants". In 1923 these goods were divided among the individual Lehner. The business is run by Anton Zöhrer.
Some of the vineyards have been family-owned for well over 400 years. They cover 20 hectares of vineyards on primary rock, loess & slate terraces in the vineyards Gebling
, Goldberg, Galgenberg, Kaiserstiege, sandpit
, Turnerberg and Weinzierlberg. They are planted with the white varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Gelber Muskateller, Sauvignon Blanc and some Traminer as well as with the red varieties Zweigelt, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. Consistently environmentally friendly, natural viticulture is practiced. The premium wines include various Green Veltliners and Rieslings Kremstal DAC (SAND1, impulse, giant, big bang), as well as the Zweigelt red wines Goldberg and ADONIS. Specialties are "Natural Wines" (mash-fermented white wines such as "Magnificence" from Grüner Veltliner) and Orange Wine
offered. Bottle-fermented, hand-shaken have also been used since 2013 sparkling wines produces that mature on the yeast for up to three years.
