The estate is located in the municipality of Lana, south of Merano (Bolzano province) in the Italian wine-growing sector South-Tirol (Region Trentino-Alto Adige ). Zollweghof, already mentioned in 1346, has been family-owned since 1935. Today it is managed by Franz Pfeifhofer and his partner Irmgard Windegger. The vineyards facing south and southeast are located at the entrance of the Ultental in the "Natura 2000 area" Gaulschlucht at 450 meters above sea level. They cover three hectares of vineyards in extreme steep slopes that have to be processed by hand. The barren soils and the cool evening winds from the Ultental give the wines freshness, intense fruitiness and minerality, Most of all PIWI -Sorts like Bronner. Cabernet Cortis. Muscaris and Souvignier Gris, as well as for reasons of tradition maintenance autochthonous sorts Fraueler and Versoaln grown.
The farm has been managed since 1990 biological and additionally since 2005 organically according to the rules of the organic association DEMETER, The wines are cellared and expanded in the farm's 700-year-old wine cellar.
